The alternative monday night ride.

Monday night at Mountain View Cycles, the shop Ben works at, there is an aggressive road group ride at 5pm but at 6pm there is the Alternative Ride. Monday night consist of no spandex (it's okay for first timers) and bikes cannot excced $1,000 in cost. It's a car-free ride out to Moiser on the old scenic highway, destination, The Thristy Women Watering hole. 18 miles around trip and the last 9 miles can be the most difficult, depending on the consumption of food and berverage. Yesterday night was the first of several Monday night rides. It was a blast!

Whistler Adventures

So Ben and I have been adventuring up to Whistler for our anniversary and the 4th of July. Below are a few pictures of us having fun.
Whistler is hard on bikes, Ben's broken chain and his fork blow out the following run! Bummer!
My favorite run... Blue Velvet to No Joke to lower Fright Train to Crank it Up.
Relaxing in the middle of Uno Mass run, the views are beautiful!

Eating our favorite chips on the Peak to Peak tram.
Happy smilies after a long fun weekend of riding.
Oh ya, Nutella sandwhiches, Ben's new favorite thing.

Traffic, 5 miles from our home in Hood River! We were stopped for 3 hrs! icky!

Our place in Hood River

So Ben and I now have officially lived in Hood River for 1 month, and boy it's been a busy month! Here's pictures of our new place we thought you would all enjoy. It's super small but we have a garage for our bikes, which is nice.
Here's a door Ben and I turned into a coffee table.
Our picnic table (Ben built it with help from Dave and Liz and I painted it)!
The living/dinning/study room.
Maximized our gear closet
Another shot of the living/dinning/study room. Now you a'll will have to come and visit!

Spring Corn with Super Woman!

Well Jennifer and I are comfortably settled into our new home in Hood River Oregon.  Since we feel at home, we decided that it is now time to go play, so that's exactly what we have been doing. From the after work bike rides at Post Canyon (just a short 18 minute ride from our house to amazing trails) or hiking in the many waterfall abundant trails in the Columbia Gorge, to ski touring the amazing volcanoes for spring corn.  We have enjoyed being back in the Northwest.
Last Saturday we decided that it would be fun to tour up Mt. Hood's Northeast side on the Cooper Spur for the annual harvest of Spring corn.  It turned out to be a great trip with gorgeous weather , we ski toured up to the top of the Cooper Spur (8500 ft) and then Skied back down. The turns where great! Not to mention that Jennifer ascended the 4700 vertical feet in just 4.5 hours, Off the couch no less! (We haven't been touring for about a month and a half with the move and all.)
Fast forward to the most recent Saturday, when Jennifer made a even more impressive repeat performance when her and I climbed Mt. Adams. We left the house at 6:00am to drive to the snowed in trail head on the south side of Adams.  We start our adventure at 7:10 am and with many "Baby Steps" we arrived at the South Summit of Adams at 4:10 pm.  Ascending about 7800 vertical in 9 hours of time.  Jennifer said it was one of the more difficult things she has ever done in her life but boy the 6500 ft of corn on the way down sure was worth it.  All said and done it was an awesome experience to share with my wife, I am so proud of her.  Two Saturdays in a row she bested herself for vertical feet in a day, and watch out she is hungry for more and Mt. Baker is the next one in her sights.

POW! of the Century

A quick update...

In the last 14 days, Snowbird has received more than 176 inches of POW!  For those of you who do not know what POW! is, let me explain.  It is the kind of snow that is so deep, so bottomless, and so amazing that it can only be described by a word that is a noun and an adjective.  It can be summed up by the sensation of floating or flying at speed and only being able to see half the time.  This experience can only be found in a location where the snow falls at a density of 8% or less.  Example, the Wasatch mountains of Utah, Americas Powder Range.  Oh, and for those keeping track, that is more than two months worth of snow in a quarter of the time...

Well you all know what Jennifer and I have been up to, hence there are no pictures to post!
